You can easily replay portions of an audio file you don’t understand and even slow down the pace.

Audacity supports WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP2, MP3 and Ogg Vorbis files.

Search YouTube if you need to learn how to do something in particular, it is full of tutorials.
