How to Add a Website to Your Home Screen

Add your favorite Chinese-learning websites to your phone, tablet, or computer for faster access. Choose your device and browser below, then follow the simple steps to create a Home Screen, Dock, desktop, or app shortcut.

iPhone & iPad

Safari
  1. Open Safari and go to the website you want to add.
  2. Tap the Share button. Depending on your Safari layout, you may first need to tap the More button.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. If available, turn on Open as Web App if you want the website to open more like a standalone app.
  5. Tap Add. The website icon will appear on your Home Screen.

Android

Google Chrome
  1. Open Chrome and go to the website you want to add.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu to the right of the address bar.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. You can edit the name of the shortcut if desired.
  5. Then tap Add.

Mac

Safari · macOS Sonoma 14 or later
  1. Open Safari and go to the website you want to use.
  2. From the menu bar, choose File → Add to Dock. You can also use the Share button and choose Add to Dock.
  3. Change the website name if you want.
  4. Click Add.
  5. The website will be saved as a web app and can be opened from the Dock, Applications, or Spotlight.

Windows, Mac, Linux & Chromebook

Google Chrome
  1. Open Chrome and go to the website you want to install.
  2. Click the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
  3. Choose Cast, save, and share → Install page as app.
  4. Some websites also show an Install icon in the address bar.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish adding the web app.

Windows & Mac

Microsoft Edge
  1. Open Microsoft Edge and go to the website you want to add.
  2. Click Settings and more (the three-dot menu).
  3. Choose More tools → Apps → Install this site as an app.
  4. Follow the prompts to install the site.
  5. After installation, you can manage it from edge://apps and create a desktop shortcut or pin it to your taskbar or Start menu.
