FAQ: Are these 3.0 tests? No.  These are based on HSK 2.0 Word Lists.  As soon as practice tests become available we will upload them to the site.

All tests provided are the creation of The Office of Chinese Language Council International (国家汉语国际推广领导小组办公室), or Hanban (汉办). Hanban organizes the HSK (汉语水平考试), which are standardized tests that measure non-native speakers’ ability to communicate in Mandarin. Ready to take the official test? Written Practice Tests

HSK 1

HSK 1 consists of 150 Vocabulary Words.Test takers who reach HSK Level 1 can understand and use simple words and sentences to fulfill specific communication needs and have a foundation for the further study of Chinese.  The actual test is 40 minutes. A passing score is 60 out of 100.

HSK 2

HSK 2 consists of 300 Vocabulary Words and includes the words from HSK 1. Test takers who reach HSK Level 2 can communicate simply and directly on daily topics they are familiar with. Level 2 is considered “advanced beginner level.” The actual test is 55 minutes.  A passing score is 120 out of 200.

HSK 3

HSK 3 consists of 600 Vocabulary Words and includes the words from HSK 1 and 2. Test takers who reach HSK Level 3 can complete basic communication tasks in daily life, study, and work. If traveling in China, Level 3 can handle most situations. The actual test is 90 minutes.  A passing score is 180 out of 300. 

HSK 4

HSK 4 consists of 1200 Vocabulary Words and includes the words from HSK 1-3.  Test takers who reach HSK Level 4 can discuss a relatively wide range of topics in Chinese and are able to communicate with native speakers. The actual test is 105 minutes.  A passing score is 180 out of 300.

HSK 5

HSK 5 consists of 2500 Vocabulary Words and includes the words from HSK 1-4. Test takers who reach HSK-Level 5 can read Chinese newspapers and magazines, appreciate Chinese films and television, and are able to write and deliver a full speech. The actual test is 125 minutes.  A passing score is 180 out of 300.

HSK 6

HSK 6 consists of 5000 Vocabulary Words and includes the words from HSK 1-5. Test takers who reach HSK Level 6 can easily understand what they read and listen to, and express themselves fluently in written and oral Chinese. The actual test is 140 minutes.  A passing score is 180 out of 300.
