Program Listings
★ Combines 20 hours of one-on-one Mandarin each week with full immersion and unusually strong independent learner reviews. Chinese Language Institute (CLI) in Guilin offers paid intensive Mandarin study with personalized instruction, housing, airport or train station pickup, activities, visa help, and 24/7 support. Students can start on any Monday, and current university students can also consider the Study Abroad program for university credit through Guangxi Normal University. One-on-One Immersion
★ Intensive Mandarin study combines small-group classes, individual instruction, and a Chinese immersion environment. ICLP at National Taiwan University is an intensive Chinese language program in Taipei offering academic-year, summer, gap-year, and customized one-on-one study. Coursework covers speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with options from beginner through advanced levels. University Language Program
★ Intensive small-group and one-on-one Chinese instruction for intermediate-to-advanced learners in Beijing. The Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies (IUP) at Tsinghua University is a full-time immersion program with a Chinese-only pledge, classes capped at three students and daily individual tutorials. IUP is backed by a consortium of major universities and is also an approved Richard U. Light Fellowship program at Yale.
Advanced University Program
★ Intensive Mandarin study combines structured classes with accommodation and cultural activities for a full immersion experience. Keats School, headquartered in Kunming, offers paid Chinese immersion programs including intensive one-on-one classes, small-group classes, semester programs, Chinese language and tour programs, and summer camps. Personalized One-on-One Immersion
★ Study Mandarin in Beijing through intensive courses and immersive youth camps that combine language learning with real-world cultural experiences. Mandarin Zone is a paid Chinese language school offering in-person immersion in Beijing, including small-group and private intensive courses with structured lessons and opportunities to practice Mandarin in daily life. Its Chinese summer camp for ages 7–17 includes 15 hours of Mandarin instruction each week along with supervised cultural activities and Beijing excursions, with residential, homestay, day and half-day options. ★ An eight-week residential program creates full-time Mandarin immersion through a Chinese-only language pledge. Middlebury Chinese School offers intensive summer study in Vermont for beginning through advanced learners, combining daily classes, individual practice, cultural activities, and campus life under Middlebury’s Language Pledge®. Students work on speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with exposure to both simplified and traditional characters. Residential Language Immersion
★ Intensive summer study combines small classes, daily individual tutorials, a strict Mandarin-only language pledge, and cultural activities in Beijing. Princeton in Beijing (PiB) is an eight-week immersion program at Beijing Normal University with courses from beginning through advanced Chinese. Students complete more than 160 hours of instruction, equivalent to two semesters of Chinese at Princeton, with intensive work in speaking, listening, reading, writing, pronunciation, and grammar.
